Each dashboard light refers to something different, and some are really serious. The maintenance required lights include routine services, such as the check engine light, battery charge, and oil pressure warning, but there are many more.

Toyota Dashboard Lights: What Do They Mean?

When those lights pop up, your Toyota is telling you precisely what it needs. Keep in mind that when you start your vehicle, all dashboard lights will temporarily illuminate during a system check. They’ll drop out within seconds, but pay attention when they stay illuminated. Let’s get to the bottom of the Toyota dashboard symbols and their meanings:

  • Master Warning Light: If the master warning system detects a malfunction, the warning light flashes and a buzzer sounds, alerting the driver to the issue.
  • Seatbelt Reminder Light: If the driver and/or the front passenger aren’t wearing their seatbelts, this warning light reminds them to buckle up.
  • VSC OFF Indicator: When the vehicle is stopped in Canyon Lake, you can turn off TRAC and VSC by pushing and holding the switch. After doing so, the TRAC OFF and VSC OFF indicator lights should illuminate. Pushing the switch again will resume the VSC system.
  • Low Fuel Level Warning Light: This indicator tells you when you’re nearly out of gas in Murrieta. Stop and refuel your vehicle at the nearest gas station in Wildomar.
  • Charging System Warning Light: If you see this light, there’s an issue with the vehicle’s charging system.
  • Headlight High-Beam Indicator: This light indicates that your high beams are currently on.
  • Low Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light: Your vehicle’s engine oil pressure is too low; schedule service as soon as possible.
  • ABS Warning Light: A malfunction in the ABS or Brake Assist system was detected.
  • Vehicles with a Smart Key System: After the ENGINE START STOP button is turned off, the indicator light flashes, confirming that the security system is operational. The light will stop flashing once the ENGINE START STOP button is pressed to put the vehicle in ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode, indicating that the system has been canceled.
  • Vehicles without a Smart Key System: After removing the key from the engine switch, the indicator light will flash, confirming that the security system is operational. The light will stop flashing after the registered key is inserted into the engine switch, indicating that the system has been canceled.
  • Cruise Control Indicator: This light indicates that your cruise control system is currently active.
  • TRAC OFF Indicator: This light tells you when your vehicle turns off traction control.
  • Slip Indicator: If VSC is operating and detects a loss of traction on any road in Murrieta, you may hear a buzzer sound letting you know VSC is working.
  • Tire Pressure Warning Light: If you see this warning light, it means your vehicle has low tire inflation pressure or that the tire pressure warning system is malfunctioning. Contact a service advisor if you’re unsure why this light is on.
  • Turn Signal Indicator: You’ll see the right and left turn signal indicators on your dashboard when using your turn signals.
  • Electric Power Steering (EPS) Warning Light: This light warns you when a malfunction is detected in the EPS system.
  • SRS Warning Light: Seeing this warning light indicates a problem in your vehicle’s SRS airbag system. You’ll need to visit a service center promptly to address the issue.
