The best oil type for your Toyota RAV4 is synthetic, but what exactly does this mean? Synthetic and conventional (or “regular”) oil may look and sound similar on the surface, but there are some important distinctions to be aware of between the two. They’re both petroleum-based, but synthetic oil has undergone further chemical refinement in a laboratory to make it as effective and long-lasting as possible. This refinement means that synthetic oil tends to be more expensive, but since you’re bringing your car in for an oil change less frequently, it tends to balance out. Synthetic oil also performs better at higher temperatures, which makes it better for tough, high-performance vehicles–like the RAV4!
As we discussed above, synthetic oil is longer-lasting than conventional oil thanks to its chemical refinement so you won’t be coming in for a Toyota RAV4 oil change in Temecula quite as often. Although exact service intervals vary, in general, you’ll bring your RAV4 in every 7,500 to 10,000 miles for an oil change.
