The lineup sorts into three tiers. The LE and Hybrid LE are the value grades. The SE and Hybrid SE add sport styling, 18-inch graphite-colored alloy wheels, and upgraded front seating. The XSE and Hybrid XLE sit at the top with SofTex seating, heated front seats, and the larger displays. The 60th Anniversary Special Edition is a separate limited run built on the Hybrid SE.

What Powertrain Comes with Each 2027 Corolla Trim?
Gas grades use a 2.0L Dynamic Force four-cylinder. It makes 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. Hybrid grades pair a 1.8L four-cylinder with the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System, known as THS 5, for 138 net combined horsepower. Your grade choice sets trim content and drivetrain availability. It does not change the engine within a powertrain.

Gas Grades
The Dynamic Shift CVT uses a physical launch gear for initial acceleration. It then hands off to the transmission’s pulley system. That design removes the lag associated with a conventional belt-driven start.
Normal and Eco drive modes are standard, and Sport mode is available. The XSE adds paddle shifters with ten pre-set ratios. All gas grades are front-wheel drive.
Hybrid Grades
Front-wheel drive is standard on the Hybrid LE, Hybrid SE, and Hybrid XLE. Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive is available on the Hybrid LE and Hybrid SE only.
This system works differently from a conventional setup. Rather than running a driveshaft to the rear axle, it uses a dedicated electric motor to drive the rear wheels when the car needs extra traction. What Is the Fuel Economy for Each 2027 Corolla Trim?
Fuel economy separates the grades more sharply than anything else in the lineup. The gas LE is the most efficient non-hybrid at an EPA-estimated 35 combined MPG. The Hybrid LE and Hybrid XLE reach an EPA-estimated 50 combined MPG.

What Separates the LE, SE, XSE, and Hybrid XLE Grades?

The gas XSE and the Hybrid XLE are the two most fully equipped grades, and they share most of their cabin content. The XSE adds paddle shifters, a Qi wireless charger, and a power tilt/slide moonroof as standard. The Hybrid XLE rides on 16-inch wheels instead of 18s, which is part of why it returns better fuel economy than the Hybrid SE.
